What do I need to know to do concurrent programming?
I’m an experienced C programmer, and I’d like to make a game. But I have no experience in threads and concurrency at all. As you can see, I’m kind of lost at the moment.
This is what I found so far:

I don’t know how to use these concepts correctly.
I’m not even sure I know what’s going on under the hood of normal threads, and what’s going on with asynchronous programming.
I know I should learn about all of these, but the problem is I don’t have a clue which ones to start learning first.
So what do I need to learn first? Which one do I need to start with?

What is the most important thing I should know about before starting with the above-mentioned topics?

Threads on UNIX-like systems are basically ordinary processes with shared data structures. If you are doing something that has synchronous parts but some threads are mostly waiting around, and some are doing busy work, you can have asynchronous threads. When there is no shared data between the threads and they are just executing the same instructions, you have regular threads. The term “thread” is overloaded, in my opinion. Many people use it just to describe a piece of code that will run sequentially or in parallel. You should learn how to implement threads. Use pthreads if you are on linux and SDL threads if you are on Windows.
